OPPOSITION (Psalm 119 pt. 9)
Psalms 119:157-158
Many persecute and trouble me, yet I have not swerved from your laws.
Seeing these traitors makes me sick at heart, because they care nothing for your word.
The moment a person decides to take the path of righteousness, opposition begins. Examples abound of those who had decided to walk in the way of the Lord. Starting from Abel who was killed by Cain who was of the evil one, through to Joseph whose brothers were so pissed off at, to Daniel and all those who walked with Christ that were martyred.
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
We blame all these on the evil one, the one called Lucifer or the Devil or Satan. However we understand that he does not work alone.
Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].
Thus every believer must always be fully girded with the full armour of God. It is not a laughing matter. It is a war situation. Ephesians 6:13-18.
Some may ask, are we just going to have troubles throughout our stay here on earth, when we submit to the Lord?
The answer is No! However we should not get too comfortable and forget who we are, and the opposition.
Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Never tune out of the frequency of God's Spirit.
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.
Luke 12:37
Blessed [are] those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
1Thessalonians 5:6
Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.
2Timothy 4:5
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
No matter the great things we see here on earth, we must not get carried away, they are not eternal, thus they will fade away.
Psalms 119:161-164
Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles only at your word.
I rejoice in your word like one who discovers a great treasure.
I hate and abhor all falsehood, but I love your instructions.
I will praise you seven times a day because all your regulations are just.
Wise men know where the real power and glory is, they don't get carried away by all the foolishness of the world, the unhealthy competitions, lust and chase for relevance. Instead, they rejoice in the Holy Spirit.
Halleluyah!
The wise dwell in the Word. No opposition is strong enough to derail them.
Psalms 119:167-168
I have obeyed your laws, for I love them very much.
Yes, I obey your commandments and laws because you know everything I do.
We have our rejoicing and no rejoicing on earth can surpass it.
Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
GLORY TO GOD.
We are more than conquerors.
He calls us blessed.
