THE WICKED ARE PUNISHED (Psalm 109)
Psalms 109:28
Then let them curse me if they like, but you will bless me!
When they attack me, they will be disgraced! But I, your servant, will go right on rejoicing!
Have you ever been hurt, betrayed or persecuted for no reason? Have you felt hurt that goes deep into your soul? Hurt that makes you yearn for revenge. That you even wish for more than death for that adversary.
Then you will understand what David is talking about in Psalm 109.
However if you have come to the Heavenly Father in Christ Jesus you cannot afford to harbour those feelings, you must let it go. We are taught to love and forgive. Never to curse but to bless.
This is actually more for our good.
Matthew 5:44-45
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Romans 12:14
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
We cannot with the same mouth bless God then also curse from the same mouth:
James 3:9-12
Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God.
And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water?
Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can’t draw fresh water from a salty spring.
This is not as easy as it is taught, however, just like other spiritual activities, we practice it continually then it becomes part of us. For God's Spirit helps us.
Leave the wicked to the Lord, He knows how to take care of them.
Are you known to be the wicked?
Yes, are you sure that in your position of authority or place of influence, you have not caused others unjust pain?
It is easy to point to others when you feel you are the victim. What if others are pointing at you as their source of pain? WE MUST BE CONSCIOUS.
* May we never be tagged "the wicked"
* May we bless and not curse
* May we be known for good works
For God is not a respecter of persons. When the poor cry, the Lord hears their cry and He fights for them.
Psalms 109:30-31
But I will give repeated thanks to the Lord, praising him to everyone.
For he stands beside the needy, ready to save them from those who condemn them.
James 2:5
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
We have no business being the wicked neither do we play the victim, for we are more than conquerors.
Glory.
Do not worry, the wicked will not go unpunished.
Proverbs 11:21
[Though] hand [join] in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
Glory to God.
He calls us blessed.
