FOOLISHNESS OF IDOLATRY, WE BLESS THE LORD (Psalm 115)
Psalms 115:18
But we can praise the Lord both now and forever! Praise the lord!
It is foolishness to go after idols, for they are a mockery to man, they can't help themselves, how can they help you. For spirits and powers have less rights and authority on earth compared to man.
Psalms 115:16
The heavens belong to the Lord, but he has given the earth to all humanity.
So humans have the right to the earth. Thus it is shortchanging ones privilege by making allegiance to these powers. For the Father created and owns the earth and He has given it to us.
Never forget that the enemy sells to you what you already own.
He did it in the garden of eden, he has continued even after the fall of man.
Genesis 3:4-7
“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.
“God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.
What, where they happy after that? NO, their glory departed, they became carnal and were now visibly naked, the glory clothing them had gone. They now needed physical clothing, what a loss.
They were already created like God:
Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
The enemy even tried it with the Messiah, Jesus the Christ:
Matthew 4:8-11
Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
“I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.”
“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say,
‘You must worship the lord your God and serve only him.’”
Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.
DO NOT LET ANYONE SELL TO YOU WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE!
Many have come into good marriages and wrecked it all in the name of giving advice, same with businesses, ministries, families, governments and so many.
Idolatry is foolishness:
Psalms 115:2-8
Why let the nations say, “Where is their God?”
Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. Their idols are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see.
They have ears but cannot hear, and noses but cannot smell.
They have hands but cannot feel, and feet but cannot walk, and throats but cannot make a sound.
And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them.
TRUST IN THE LORD!
For the Lord has blessed and will yet bless us. Don't be in a hurry, don't allow fear, don't have a double mind and keep away from evil and all appearances of it. These are the things that lead to idolatry.
Psalms 115:11,13
All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord! He is your helper and your shield.
He will bless those who fear the Lord, both great and lowly.
Don't forget where the real power is, don't forget He who sacrificed His treasured Son to set us free. What else can't He do for us.
He got us and even our children covered:
Psalms 115:14-15
May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.
May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
He will keep us alive that we may keep praising Him:
Psalms 115:17-18
The dead cannot sing praises to the Lord, for they have gone into the silence of the grave.
But we can praise the Lord both now and forever! Praise the Lord!
Stay in prayer, stay in worship, keep studying and meditating on the word. God got you covered.
He calls us blessed.
