WHAT ARE YOU COMFORTABLE WITH? (Psalm 84)
Psalms 84:10
A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
We know we are no longer in the time of ignorance. God has fulfilled His temple by the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus.
John 4:21, 23-24
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
But the time cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
Thus when we read about the house of the Lord we do not just see a building but His presence.
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Thus it is not the outside of the cup that matters but the inside.
Matthew 23:26-28
[Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness.
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Where do you love to stay, what thoughts dominate your mind? That is your house. Is your house full of lovely and beautiful things, or is it full of trash, filthy and dirty things.
The church building, temple or synagogue may look gigantic, magnificent or small and ordinary. The question is "how are the souls that gather there?"
The same way when Jesus said:
John 14:2-3
In my Father's house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.
Many of us who read this verses as children from the KJV, left with the impression of mansion houses in heaven prepared for us.
In NLT it reads thus:
John 14:2-3
There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
No matter how we see it, the most important phrase is:
. . . where I am, you will be also. . .
The most important thing is always to be with the Lord, yes, the Lord is our attraction.
Psalm 84:5
Blessed [is] the man whose strength [is] in thee; in whose heart [are] the ways [of them].
This many still miss today, fellowship with the Son, thus with the Heavenly Father has been replaced with material things. Thus we get carried away by the elements, the building and other physical things while missing out the divine.
Some places of worship have become
* business centres
* comedy stands
* reality shows
* den of thieves
* stage plays
* place of envy and hate
* fashion shows
* ponzi centres
* clubs
* strip houses
* stage for impressionists
The list is endless.
No wonder the Messiah had to chase people out with whips.
Whatever believers are comfortable with, is what is brought into church or the place of gathering.
The question is "what are we to be comfortable with?"
1 Timothy 6:11
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
It is about Him and not things. Praise His Holy name.
May we not err. Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
