HE IS EXALTED (Psalm 57)

Psalm 57:5
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; [let] thy glory [be] above all the earth.

We learn from David to exalt the Lord even in the midst of heavy trials and temptations. When enemies surrounded him, chasing him from place to place. He had to hide in caves, run to the enemy's camp, seek for food for himself and his men.

The title "a man after God's heart" he did not give to himself, God described him thus.

Acts 13:22
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the [son] of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

Many today rejoice in titles, they want to seat in high seats, be praised of men, even to domineer over others. What exactly have they sacrificed?

Look at David in all the troubles that came to him, was it his fault that he was anointed king? It was the Heavenly Father who did. He did not ask for it. Yet in all his tribulations His only desire was for God to be praised. He even had opportunity to slay his enemy, the one who wanted him dead, he had him in his hands and truly it was self defence for Saul was there to kill him. His men said go ahead, do it and end all this pain, fear and hiding.

Not David, he remembered that this was a man God had anointed, he restrained himself.

1Samuel 24:7-8
And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he [is] the anointed of the LORD.
So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on [his] way.

What honour, what reverence for the Heavenly Father.

Who really do you exalt, is it self?

Can we sing in the midst of trials that He is exalted. Can we live that life of faith, reverence of the Living God or are we only interested in prestige?

We learn from David:

Psalms 57:7-11
My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident.
No wonder I can sing your praises!
Wake up, my heart!
Wake up, O lyre and harp!
I will wake the dawn with my song.
I will thank you, Lord, among all the people.
I will sing your praises among the nations.
For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth.

He sang this while hiding in caves. What is your song now?

I WILL EXALT THE LORD.

Glory to God.

He calls us blessed.

Love

  1. May God give us such heart to work against evil, may He empower us to leave every fight for Him to fight when we would always be praising him
