CRY FOR HELP (Psalm 69)

Psalm 69:16
Hear me, O LORD; for thy loving kindness [is] good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

At the time of these writings, war was prevalent, for a nation would rise against another, seeking dominance, blood was shed easily and many feared for their lives. It is understandable why the writer of this Psalm cries out to God for help and mercy. We see that his enemies were from within and without.

He was provoked and sought destruction, even eternal destruction for his enemies

Psalms 69:22-25
Let the bountiful table set before them become a snare and their prosperity become a trap.
Let their eyes go blind so they cannot see, and make their bodies shake continually.
Pour out your fury on them; consume them with your burning anger.
Let their homes become desolate and their tents be deserted.

He did not stop there he went on to those who mock and persecute those who are under the Lord's chastisement:

Psalms 69:26-28
To the one you have punished, they add insult to injury; they add to the pain of those you have hurt.
Pile their sins up high, and don’t let them go free.
Erase their names from the Book of Life; don’t let them be counted among the righteous.

Yes the pain could be excruciating, however we should know the Spirit we carry:

Luke 9:54-56
And when his disciples James and John saw [this], they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save [them]. And they went to another village.

Attacks and persecutions have not ceased in our times however there is caution and rule of law. Firstly the believer must not be found on the other side of the divide, causing harm or pain to others. Then those who suffer these things should be rest assured that the Lord will vindicate them.

For the Spirit we carry is not to take man's name away from the book of life but to bring many therein.

Our lives should be such that will give hope to others, we should be living epistles and not a discouragements or shame to those who look unto us:

Psalms 69:6
Don’t let those who trust in you be ashamed because of me,
O Sovereign lord of Heaven’s Armies. Don’t let me cause them to be humiliated, O God of Israel.

Yes, it does matter what happens to us, for we are supposed to be Christ revealed to the world.

2 Corinthians 3:2
Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

Halleluyah, we carry a good testimony.

For even at that time the Psalmist understood that it was not the animal sacrifices that pleased God but thanksgiving from a pure and sincere heart, praise to His name. (we praise Him and we cause others to praise Him)

Psalms 69:30-31
Then I will praise God’s name with singing, and I will honor him with thanksgiving.
For this will please the lord more than sacrificing cattle, more than presenting a bull with its horns and hooves.

For at the end, here on earth and even into eternity it will be glorious:

Psalms 69:34,36
Praise him, O heaven and earth, the seas and all that move in them.
The descendants of those who obey him will inherit the land, and those who love him will live there in safety.

Never think the Lord ignores your prayers or your cry, NO, He knows better, sees better, you will yet see why it is that way. He will help.

Glory to God. He is our HELPER!

He calls us blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
