REALLY YOUR FRIEND(Psalm 55)
Psalm 55:22
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Reading through the account of David, we see a man who encountered a lot of challenges, he had enemies around him. Those from outside understandably, however those from inside bring the most pain.
For those who oppose you and come out as enemies you could be cautious of, however what of those within your circle, who eat with you, plan with you even go to the house of the Lord with you:
Psalms 55:12-14
It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that.
It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them.
Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend.
What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God.
Nothing hurts like betrayal. Thus David prophesied their lot:
Psalms 55:20-21,23
As for my companion, he betrayed his friends; he broke his promises.
His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war.
His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers!
But you, O God, will send the wicked down to the pit of destruction.
Murderers and liars will die young,
but I am trusting you to save me.
Why do people feel that they could do wrong and get away with it.
2 Timothy 3:1-4
You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.
For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.
They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.
They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.
Psalm 55:19
God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
Many have stereotyped themselves to become hard and unloving because of betrayals, but wisdom is not to be shaped by the err of others but to become stronger and wiser. Your love and trust in God should not be a function of what people say or do. They should be from your faith in Him.
Definitely all acts of betrayal will be paid for, the Lord will deal with them. WE AS BELIEVERS MUST HAVE NO PART IN THIS WICKEDNESS!
Psalm 55:23
But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
2Thessalonians 3:13
But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
Let us never forget who our true friend is, no matter what man does, we look up to the Heavenly Father.
Psalm 55:22
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
The Heavenly Father is good, we give Him all glory, honour and praise.
He calls us blessed.
