JUDGMENT (Psalm 50)
Psalm 50:4
He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.
This is a Psalm attributed to Asaph, he was a Levite, a psalmist and also a recorder. He lived in the time of David. For David appointed him to minister before the ark of the Lord.
1Chronicles 16:4-6
And he appointed [certain] of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
Nehemiah 12:46
For in the days of David and Asaph of old [there were] chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.
They did not just write the Psalms, the also received it from David as inspired of the Lord. It was their daily job:
1Chronicles 16:37
So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:
The introduction is needed so we understand when we see the prophesies and revelations in the Psalms.
It is judgment time: the Lord was calling Israel to order, not only Israel but even those who had not known Him.
Relate:
1 Peter 4:17
For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?
2Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
So let us see the revelation in Psalm 50.
Here we see God cautioning us in our giving. For we do remember that what they practiced of old were shadows of things to come. So God revealed that it was not that He was rejecting their sacrifices of animals, but they should understand that it is just a sign. For if He was hungry He would not tell them. For everything they could ever think of offering was His! Hello:
Psalm 50:10-12
For every beast of the forest [is] mine, [and] the cattle upon a thousand hills.
I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field [are] mine.
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world [is] mine, and the fulness thereof.
So you that think you give God too much remember:
1 Corinthians 4:7
For who maketh thee to differ [from another]? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive [it], why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received [it]?
All we can ever give to God let us remember that we first received them from Him. Selah
Haggai 2:8
The silver [is] mine, and the gold [is] mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
The Lord went ahead to tell us what the true sacrifice was:
Psalm 50:14-15
Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
Yes thanksgiving, praise to His name. Don't go making careless promises and commitments to God that you cannot keep. You may take it lightly, He does not!
Then you cannot be born of His Spirit yet still corrupt yourself with the world. No!
No believer is allowed to live carelessly. Unless you have degraded yourself to become the wicked.
Psalm 50:16-17
But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or [that] thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.
You can't live in sin and expect grace to abound. God forbid!
Psalm 50:18-21
When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.
Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
Thou sittest [and] speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.
These [things] hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether [such an one] as thyself: [but] I will reprove thee, and set [them] in order before thine eyes.
Are you saying that God condones evil deeds? He is silent now, does not mean He agrees with your evil lifestyle.
Psalm 50:22
Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear [you] in pieces, and [there be] none to deliver.
For the door of repentance is open to all who believe.
Psalm 50:23
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth [his] conversation [aright] will I shew the salvation of God.
Then why will you who has already been saved desire to live the lifestyle of the wicked. No it should not be.
For Paul writes:
Ephesians 5:1-11
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.
Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.
You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.
Don’t participate in the things these people do.
For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!
For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.
Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.
Father wash me clean by your word again and again, let no wickedness be found in me, may thy Spirit consume me in your very nature, that all I do will please you.
I will not be judged as the wicked.
You call us blessed. Glory to your name dear Father. We do love you and we will show it.
Love
