GOD OF BATTLE
Psalm 17:13
Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, [which is] thy sword:
Psalm 17:8
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
You would not expect David's prayer to be like that of his son Solomon for David lived in the time of war for all his youthful life he had to fight again and again, from within and without.
Solomon enjoined a time of peace, he never had to fight wars for he reaped of the victory of his father and God had granted him wisdom so deep that some came from far just to hear him.
I wonder what would have happened if any attempted to war with him, his wealth and wisdom would have been such great tool to conquer and above all the presence of God, he would have been no match for those of his time.
Thus when we hear Jesus say:
"a greater than Solomon is here"
Luke 11:31
We know that Christ came with wisdom itself, that surpass that of Solomon, greater than any that could be found on earth. The wisdom that brought every man from wanting to experience God to having God dwell in us by His Spirit.
1 Corinthians 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Ephesians 3:10
To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly [places] might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
The wisdom that gave us victory both in this life now and also in the world to come.
For what are those enemies that can stand before us?
1John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.
Just as God fought for David, He fights for us, as we release our faith. His Word in us, a sword that no enemy is strong enough to withstand, and we are still shielded by faith against whatever darts they throw.
Yes our God is a God of Battle, for even before the war begins He has already won. That is why He laughs at them.
Psalm 2:4
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Glory to His Holy name.
Heavenly Father we thank you for we know that victory is always sure. Halleluyah.
He calls us blessed.
Love
