MAN OF GOD

1Timothy 6:11
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

The phrase "man of God" is rarely seen in the new testament writings. However in the old testament almost all prophets were called men of God. For they no longer owned their lives.

Some today claim to be or are called men of God. However it is God who knows who is His man. Selah

2Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Of course we all have been called into sonship, for Christ was clear about it:

John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

However there are some chosen, appointed to be apostles, bishops etc. There are men of God. People who hear directly from God and have been called to lead many. They are not like anyone else, there lives have been patterned, they have surrendered their will for the Lord's will. They experience the supernatural, yes the divine. They are more than prophets.

They are furnished unto all good works. They are not pampered, they are matured.

2Timothy 3:17
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works

Do we have them in our present day and time?

Who do you call "man of God"? It is not just a title it is a high position, the Lord does not take it lightly with them.

There are things men of God have settled:

1 Timothy 6:6-10
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into [this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out.
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

They do not operate in the realm of this world. They are the builders, they water, they teach and are God’s voice to their generation. They wield God's power for they do nothing of themselves but for His glory.

There are things that mark an apostle "man of God"

1 Corinthians 9:1
Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

* they have seen Christ

* they have received an assignment

* the have an evidence of their work (souls of men)

* they have killed the flesh and its lusts

* their lives have already been patterned

Thus before you say man of God. Let's see the fruits!

Are you a man of God?

Men of God bring glory to God. Thus do you or your man of God bring glory to Christ?

Do they seek their own?

Remember:

Matthew 22:14
For many are called, but few [are] chosen.

May we have many men of God in our time to draw the hearts of men back to the Father. They will not seek their own but they will do the will of the Lord. For the Lord will show Himself in this troubled times. Glory to the Heavenly Father.

We are blessed.
