GRACE FOR GRANTED
Romans 6:1
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
What ensued this statement from Bro. Paul? People do not understand what grace means.
People merely define grace as unmerited favour, however the question is, for what?
Let us look at how our Messiah, Jesus the Christ described God's expectation from us.
Matthew 5:20
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
We are not expected to fare less than the scribes and Pharisees;
We are not expected to fare like the scribes and Pharisees;
More is expected from us!
Matthew 5:20
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
So
1 Corinthians 10:11
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
We see the mistakes of those of the past that we will not do the same too.
(Read 1 Corinthians 10:5-10 and Hebrews 3:7-19)
So the grace is not given for granted, but granted that we will do better than those who did not have it.
Titus 2:11-12
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Thus the grace enables us not to make the same mistakes the people of old did but to do the will of the Lord.
We do not trust on ourselves anymore we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit.
So we are inexcusable, cause to Him much is given, much is expected.
2Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Do not take God's grace for granted.
The question remains: "what do you have to show for the grace you have received from God?".
Works of Righteousness or works of unrighteousness?
Hmm
2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.
The grace of God will make us do exploits. We will not take the grace for granted. Help us Good Lord.
Have you gone off course? It is time to realign.
To you be all glory, honour and praise O Heavenly Father for the grace you have given us in your Son Jesus the Christ. Blessed be your Holy name Great Father.
We are blessed.
Love
