NOT GLORYING IN MEN
1 Corinthians 3:21
Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
One of the stumbling blocks of salvation and fulfilment of purpose is the very channel by which we receive the gospel. "man".
A singer wrote: "Christ is the only way to the Father but we are not the only way to Christ".
Some have made themselves the doorway to heaven, taking the place of God and even the place of judgment, which is reserved for Christ alone.
John 5:22
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Jesus told the lawyers of His day, the teachers of religious laws:
Luke 11:52
Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
Luke 11:52
“What sorrow awaits you experts in religious law! For you remove the key to knowledge from the people. You don’t enter the Kingdom yourselves, and you prevent others from entering.”
We were never to be a stumbling block but called to edify, yes to be teachers, counsellors, intercessors. We are to lead to Christ and not to ourselves.
People would say, is it that serious, we need man.
Yes, however our trust should be in the Lord. Listen:
Jeremiah 17:5-7
This is what the lord says:
“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the lord.
They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future.
They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land.
“But blessed are those who trust in the lord and have made the lord their hope and confidence.
Hmm
Man is fallible but Christ is not. He had the victory, He paid the price, He brought us back to the Heavenly Father. It is all about Him. Let Him have the glory.
So Paul says:
1 Corinthians 11:1
Be ye followers of me, even as I also [am] of Christ.
So I can only follow you if you are following Christ. So who do I learn of, who do I study, who do I read about? Christ!
So study the word, know the Christ you serve, seek Him, listen to Him, worship Him. You become relevant to your world and the church.
Remember:
1 Corinthians 3:23
And ye are Christ's; and Christ [is] God's.
Glory to God. For we would never have known God if Christ was not revealed. Halleluyah.
Thank you heavenly Father that I know the truth and because of this, I am free. Halleluyah.
John 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
He calls us blessed.
