DISTRACTIONS
Ephesians 5:15-17
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.
Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Distractions, they are those things that takes a person's mind away from the original goal, the main purpose and keeps them stagnant at a point, regressing or pushes them towards a different direction.
Hebrews 12:13
and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
One thing we must never forget is that the Lord did not tell us that the way will be broad and easy to journey, no, He actually said the contrary:
Luke 13:24
“Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail.
Mark 4:18-19
The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word,
but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.
The easy way to understand if one is distracted or not is to ask "Am I in God's will, is this what the Lord expects me to be doing at this time, if He returns right now will he be pleased with me?"
The bible recorded that while Christ had resurrected, Peter was not aware of the next assignment, he returned to fishing, then came the question:
John 21:17
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.
What is your distraction: What has diverted you from being that
* good father or mother raising your children in the ways of the Lord
* one in the workplace or business known as the ambassador of God
* soul winner that takes every good opportunity by the leading of the Holy Spirit to point someone to God through Christ
* one who listens in the Spirit and recognizes those who need help and goes forth to shine that light of God in helping the needy
* intercessor who continues in prayer for yourself, family, the saved and the unsaved
* one who contributes to the edification of the brethren
* one who the Lord can boast about and say "I have my servant here"
* one who is fulfilling their God giving assignment.
What is that distraction? You have to identify it, name it, then cast it out or bring it to its place on your list of priority.
For not all distractions are evil, they might just be at the wrong timing or occupying the wrong step in your record of priorities.
However some need to be deleted.
Hebrews 12:1
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
For when we let go of the distractions we avoid unnecessary burdens for Christ said:
Matthew 11:30
For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Halleluyah. May we let go of all unnecessary loads and burdens, may we not be distracted. May the Lord have His way in us. Thank you Heavenly Father we do love you.
We are blessed.
