TRUE CONTENTMENT (BE A GIVER)

1 Timothy 6:6
Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.

Not all will be wealthy in the land, some would surely have needs, thus when the law was given through Moses these ones were catered for.

In the church, some special set of people had to be catered for:

Acts of the Apostles 6:1-2
But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.
So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program.

These were people with genuine needs, who needed to be catered for.

Contentment would make you give as a believer, for the excess you have is entrusted to you to provide for someone else. This is true christian love.

The lazy, or financially foolish, are not the needy.

Proverbs 13:4,11,25
Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.
Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.
The godly eat to their hearts’ content, but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12
Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”
Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business.
We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living.

Young men and women be warned!!! You are not allowed to be beggars or thieves, don't waste your youth, throw away pride. Work no matter the level, and earn, that you may be useful!!!

Yes, we need to save, we need to invest and plan for the future. However our giving is investment into the greater future.

Matthew 25:37-40
“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?
Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?
When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

May the Heavenly Father grant us true contentment. For then we will give and so by the leading of His Spirit.

We will discern well.

He calls us blessed.
