DO YOU BELIEVE?
Hebrews 4:2
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it].
The grace of God upon man comes with the ability of man to believe. This is so essential that God would not drag us into anything if we refuse to believe. I believe as I have often taught that it is as a result of how God created us, "a replica of Himself here on earth".
Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
This I call the power of choice, that is, to be God, not be forced into anything but be able to decide what we do. This thus makes us fully accountable.
This is why when people say, "why did God allow this or allow that", the answer remains that man must decide, and man must choose the way they would go.
Every man's work must be tested!
(Never forget that though we have the power to choose, we are not guaranteed power over the consequences of our choices. Selah)
That understood, we now look at God's word.
Firstly you have to believe God, then you believe His Word. This also is a choice. Far beyond what our parents taught us, what prevails in our family or society or how we just feel. At the long run, we must decide!
Hebrews 11:6
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Then we believe His Word, for this is how we can harness the power.
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Some argue on the perfection of the word over the years due to translation and movement. However we must understand the activeness of the word, it is not in the letter but in the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:6
He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.
That is why Jesus said that the Holy Spirit must come abide in us.
Many reject the Spirit cause they are offended as a result of expectations they feel are not met, pride, philosophy, or the err of others who have used the things of God for their personal gain, or have just been plain deceivers. Some feel there is too much evil recorded.
Whatever the reason, our feelings and emotions cannot negate who God is, what He has done, the revelation of His word in the new covenant and the power of His Spirit.
We must believe His word to enjoy His power.
We must go beyond our fears and doubt.
What are we going to say when we leave here? Can we afford the risk?
Remember that if you don't believe, you would NOT experience His Salvation and thus be sealed with His Spirit. (This is the primary purpose of the enemy, the evil principalities and powers).
Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
It is too risky to stay in unbelief.
Romans 15:13
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
May we be renewed in faith.
Glory to God.
He calls us blessed.
