BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU SPEAK
It is necessary that we remind ourselves that what and how we speak has great impact and consequences.
Colossians 4:6
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
Nothing pierces the heart with pain more than words. Some say it is better to be physically hit than to be smitten by words.
Our Heavenly father expects us to be careful with our words. The scripture says that power lies in our tongue and Jesus said we will account for every idle word we speak.
Matthew 12:36
"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
When we speak, we prophesy into our lives, we also provoke angels, and if we are careless we could provoke other spirits into action by our words.
Matthew 12:37
"For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
When we speak, what should be the outcome?
Our speech as believers should be to:
* edify one another (improve one another)
* speak the truth
* correct in love
* counsel and to teach
* soothe the troubled one
* calm the angry or bitter spirit
* preach the gospel of Christ
* reveal what the Spirit is saying
* solve problems
* declare God' power in healing and deliverance
* worship God
Titus 2:15
Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
Ephesians 5:19
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord
Even the tone of your voice tells what kind of relationship exist. It is unlikely that you shout at one you have a good relationship with. Shouting shows that the hearts are far apart from each other.
Our speaking is not for gossip, blackmail, to deform, lies or to cause pain neither is it for cursing.
James 1:26
If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.
1Peter 3:10
For "He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile;
James 1:19
Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
Psalms 34:13
Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking guile.
Let us reflect on the use of our tongue. Let us get busy praising God. It must not be defiling.
James 3:10
Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
Furthermore, we must be careful what we hear for what we hear influences what we speak. Selah
I see you our speech. . . Edifying, Correcting, Encouraging, Full of love and Glorifying God.
Brethren keep praying!
He calls us blessed.
