DON'T GIVE IN
Proverbs 23:31
Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, [when] it moveth itself aright.
We who have come to Christ have left the ways of the world and all that is unrighteous to follow the new path Christ has laid for us. Our greatest desire being to always please the Heavenly Father.
Just as Jesus, the Son of the Heavenly Father said, we are not taken out of the world but we are kept from evil. That was His prayer for us. Yet we must give account, we must face our trials and tribulations and overcome.
John 17:15
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Romans 5:3
And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Knowing this, then why would we as believers tend to create tribulations of our own.
As I told some bible students in a bible class some years ago. "Seeing that there is tribulation already in the world, why would I create more, by wrong association, bad life style or evil habits". Selah
In Proverbs 23, the wise man says it is wisdom to stay away from strong drinks:
Have you accounted fully for the actions you have taken without the influence of substances?
Why then compound issues by risking actions without your full consciousness. Why create more problems, complications or difficulty for oneself.
Don't give in!
Proverbs 23:29-35
Who has anguish? Who has sorrow? Who is always fighting? Who is always complaining? Who has unnecessary bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?
It is the one who spends long hours in the taverns, trying out new drinks.
Don’t gaze at the wine, seeing how red it is, how it sparkles in the cup, how smoothly it goes down.
For in the end it bites like a poisonous snake; it stings like a viper.
You will see hallucinations, and you will say crazy things.
You will stagger like a sailor tossed at sea, clinging to a swaying mast.
And you will say, “They hit me, but I didn’t feel it. I didn’t even know it when they beat me up. When will I wake up so I can look for another drink?”
Influence in substances do not add to you it actually takes from you, making you depreciate, also causing destructions and pains that may never be remedied. Selah
Instead be drunk with God's power, His very Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
I love the way NLT translates it
Ephesians 5:18
Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,
The Spirit of God will always lead you aright. For He proves God's Word!
Instead of creating problems and causing pain to ourselves and others, we actually do otherwise:
Ephesians 5:19-21
singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.
And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
That is the kingdom of God?!
Romans 14:17-18
For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.
Glory to God!
I will preferable be drunk in the Spirit, Halleluyah.
I know you will too.
He calls you blessed.
