ENJOY

Ecclesiastes 2:24
[There is] nothing better for a man, [than] that he should eat and drink, and [that] he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it [was] from the hand of God.

Many have different perspective of enjoyment, or making oneself happy.

Do you know the word "enjoy" was derived from the latin word "gadure"  which means "rejoice".

1Thessalonians 5:16
Rejoice evermore.

Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.

Is our christian race all gloom, boring, suffering, pain, persecution or over-seriousness? Some do not know that Christ was sarcastic and teasing (if I may use the term - if not using "joke") in some of His conversations. That does not permit jesters in our services. (Please don't get it twisted)

Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

The question is,  how do you find your own merriment, is it from the inner joy the Spirit gives or influenced by external poisons, such as alcohol and stimulants?

What happens when you use these things is that they degrade the very fabrics of your body element to stimulate a temporary excitement, however that degraded part is not replenished, thus a resetting of your brain constituent, bringing about addiction and irrational behaviours.

Some find their own pleasures and merriment in sins and abominable acts.

Proverbs 20:17
Bread of deceit [is] sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

No, that is not for us believers.

Romans 6:12&14
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Let us get this right. Christ taught His disciples to pray and fast, however He also showed them how to enjoy. To sit with one another and eat good food, discuss in love and have fun. With no sin involved.

There are so many talks about birthdays and other pagan ceremonies introduced into the church by the early Roman emperors, who modified Christian practices, scriptures and names, Yes, however thank God for His Spirit we will never get it wrong.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

My brethren, know your God, don't be carried away with ceremonies and activities. Know your God. Selah!

John 6:37
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

So we are permitted to enjoy but it should be from the joy that emits from the soul. The joy that is a fruit of the spirit. When you think you are having a good time and sin is involved. You have missed it.

John 15:11
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full.

This joy came because we walk in obedience to His commandments. Read John 15:7-15.

So my brethren rejoice, merry with others however remember that the greatest joy is when you lead others to the greater joy after this life on earth.

Luke 15:7
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Matthew 25:23
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

We will have joy here and in the life after, yes we will rejoice, yes we will work. Glory to our God of Joy.

Jude 1:24
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

We are the blessed.
