THE NIGHT
Psalms 16:7
I will bless the lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.
The night in scriptures depicts different times in the life of man:
* Literary : when darkness comes
Genesis 1:5
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
* Time of great trouble:
Psalms 30:5
For his anger [endureth but] a moment; in his favour [is] life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy [cometh] in the morning.
John 9:4
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Micah 3:6
Therefore night [shall be] unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
* Old age
John 9:4
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Lamentations 3:6
He hath set me in dark places, as [they that be] dead of old.
* The last days, the end of the world
2Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
One characteristics of the night is that it becomes difficult to work/walk, Illumination is missing thus we do not see. Strength also is diminished. WE PREPARE FOR THE NIGHT!
Nights will always be here till the end of time. Then the bible says for those of us who will be with the Lord after this life, we will no longer have nights:
Revelation 21:25
And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
Revelation 22:5
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelations 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Yes, however for now the night times will come.
What do we do?
We prepare for the nights. We work in the daytime.
For literal night:
We don't need to explain that for our literal daily experience. You prepare for the night.
For times of trouble:
One do not learn the art of war on the battle ground, you go to battle prepared. Selah
For old age:
Lamentations 3:27
[It is] good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
We work in the day that we may have rest at night.
Are you prepared for the night?
* Have you prayed?
* Do you have the word?
* Have you invested?
* How much oil is in your lamp, will your candles keep burning?
Don't sleep in your day, work, get trained, build your shield. The night must not meet you unprepared. BE READY.
I see the Heavenly Father's hand at work in us for exploits. We will not be caught off guard. We will be ready.
Remember nights will come and go, yes, even old age. Selah!
However there is a night we must never experience.
Revelation 20:10, 14-15
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
But for us who have believed:
Revelation 21:3
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.
GLORY TO GOD.
We are of the DAY!
We are blessed.
