DON'T HATE
1John 2:11
But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
The nature of the believer ought to be the nature of God and the bible says:
1John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
It is not that people would not offend us, they would be offences here and there, however the environment should not destroy our internal. Selah
From our initial text, hate blinds, and we know that blindness is associated with darkness. Thus destruction is not far away.
That is why the Messiah, Jesus the Christ says: leave that gift on the alter and go reconcile with your brother first:
Matthew 5:24
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Everyday we face the issues that proceed from our life here on earth:
* family including parents, children and direct and indirect relatives;
* work having bosses, subordinates or colleagues;
* school having lecturers, other staff and colleagues;
* society having the government representatives, service providers and others we deal with day in and out;
* area of residence, neighbours, landlords or tenants etc. ;
* church having leaders, elders and the brethren.
The list may include more, whatever it is, we will keep dealing with fellow humans till we live this world. We have to decide to stay in love and not to hate. No wonder Peter asked:
Matthew 18:21
Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus answered:
Matthew 18:22
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
So it is not that we will not get offended but that we should forgive and not allow the offence go deep. Some would say "but they haven't sought forgiveness", nevertheless for your own sake forgive.
Love is God's nature, we are the evidence of this love. Hate is not our testimony. We should hate sin, laziness and anything that does not bring God glory, we are not to hate our brother.
As we go on with our duties, roles and fulfil our purpose, may hate not arise but love guarded by the power of God's wisdom from His Spirit leading us to do that which is pleasing to the Lord.
Remember the things that cause strife are earthy. They do not worth us loosing our glory in eternity. Selah
James 4:1&2
From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? [come they] not hence, [even] of your lusts that war in your members?
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Let love reign. It is the believers nature. Galatians 5:22
