DO YOU KNOW YOUR GOD?
Ephesians 1:17
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
We talk of knowing God, hope we know what we are talking about? Selah!
Do we know what it means to know God?
Let us look at this extract from the narration of Daniel about the revelation of the end time shown to Him :
Daniel 11:32
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do [exploits].
These are two contrasts: Those who corrupt the covenant and those who know their God.
It has been like that from the early times. There are those who rebel against God's authority in their lives: starting from Cain to examples of others who rebelled against the covenant up till today.
The bible says they shall be corrupted by flatteries.
* form of godliness, but no power
* have itching ears
* heap on themselves false teachers
* call upon the name of the Lord but do not depart from iniquity
2Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Timothy 3:5
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
This is why they find it hard to: Pray, worship, study the word, evangelize. They do not know their God.
It takes the knowledge of God to do exploits.
Daniel and his three friends knew their God, thus they could stand before kings. THEY DID EXPLOITS.
Joseph knew His God, while all the storms were coming his way, he stood strong. HE DID EXPLOITS.
David knew his God. While his brothers were training for war he was left to shepherd sheep, however he learnt to know his God. HE DID EXPLOITS.
Can we talk of the apostles and the early believers they learnt to know their God. THEY DID EXPLOITS
Do you know your God?
If you don't, you are in danger of living by flatteries, many have been held in the bondage of ignorance. They have been taught lots of junk, which have imprinted erroneous ideas about themselves, people and God in their heart. Thus they fight the wrong battles, see the wrong things and live the life of bondage.
It is time that all awake to know the God they serve. Like the two wise spies we will be able to see our victory. Unlike the other ten who saw themselves as grasshoppers.
We cannot claim to serve a God we have no knowledge of.
Wisdom is revealed today, God is revealed. Ask Him for revelation. Awake and see. You will do exploits.
