UNDERSTANDING YOUR SALVATION ROLE - Part 2

John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
 By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Love:*Why was this a command? selah!

You have been saved, you still have to live your life on earth, however not with the old self or nature but with the new nature of God. What is this nature: LOVE.

Jesus said this is how all men will know we are His disciples. So whatever it is you say, do or accomplish and it is not in love. We wonder whose purpose you are fulfilling.

John 17:26
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare [it]: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

This was the evidence that anyone had encountered God through Christ Jesus!

Acts 2:46-47
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

* They could do this because there was love!

1 Corinthians 13:1-3(NLT)
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

* Our service is meaningless without love.

Galatians 5:13-14
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

* All the laws and the teachings of the prophets is summarized in love.

Matthew 22:36-40(NLT)
“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
This is the first and greatest commandment.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

How did Paul identify a church doing well:

* church at Ephesus:

Ephesians 1:15
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

* church at Colosse:

Colossians 1:4
Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love [which ye have] to all the saints,

* the Thessalonian church:

1 Thessalonians 3:6 (NLT)
But now Timothy has just returned, bringing us good news about your faith and love. He reports that you always remember our visit with joy and that you want to see us as much as we want to see you.
After their faith, their love. Selah!

2 Thessalonians 1:3
Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.

* Even to his spiritual son Timothy:

1 Timothy 1
The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

We must understand our calling, our faith and what Spirit we carry.

That is why we are taught that the very first attribute/character of the Spirit is Love. Galatians 5:22.

You cannot confirm you are living the christian life if there is no love. What congregation are you building, what fellowship are you having, what life are they living?

1John 3:23-24
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Jude completes his writing by saying:

Jude 1:21
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

After faith is love. selah!

May our love as a believer, as a church, as a leader even as a follower never grow cold.

We are blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
