UNDERSTANDING YOUR SALVATION ROLE 1
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
This, we most time forget, the salvation we received to give us eternal life is not what we worked for, but what we received. The price was payed by Christ Jesus:
1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
The question is: were do we come in?
1 Peter 4:1-2
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
One thing we should know about Peter and some of the other apostles, was that they expected that Christ would return in their earthly life time, you will see this reflect in most of their writings.
(Would not go much into that: however in His second letter he seemed to have asserted: (2Peter 3:8))
What we should be interested in is, our role in the finished work of Christ. It is not far fetched, not bondage to works of the law or returning to the practice of keeping of days or ceremonies etc. It is:
1 Peter 4:1&2
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
What is it "the will of the Lord". That is, "knowing what the mind of the Lord is and doing it" .
This is what Paul also emphasized in the book of Romans, having shown us how we have been grafted in by the disobedience of Israel he went ahead to plead and declare:
Romans 12:1&2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
That is service!
Do read through Romans chapter 13,14 & 15 then read 1Peter 4:8-19 then Chapter 5
Then life continues in the new birth we received this salvation not to begin to war again or condemn or bring dissensions, but in one accord living the victorious life in love with one another as brethren.
Knowing as brethren, that we have varying gifts yet from the same spirit. And varying practices and traditional beliefs this because of denominations/sects. (If you can't live in peace with the brethren, are you God's?)
Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
We do not condemn the brethren, but by the word we correct, teach, encourage and edify one another.
We then live as light to those who do not believe, who we are expected to still be at peace with.
Romans 12:18
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
1Peter 3:11
Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
2 Peter 3:14
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
May the Lord grant us grace to understand what is the word and what is traditional belief. Selah
May we who have received this salvation the Lord has granted us, seek always to fulfill His will.
We are victorious.
We are blessed.
