ARE YOU IN CHARGE OF YOUR TOMORROW?
Proverbs 27:1
Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Who knows what lies in the future? We enter each each new day pushing into our regular schedule or sometimes into new projects or assignments. We could get careless and just keep speaking of what we would accomplish. Proverbs 27:1 gives us a caution.
James 4:13-16
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
For that ye [ought] to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
What is the erring here? Not putting God first.
When we speak to believers we talk of faith, and faith is active and not passive. It is a lifestyle, a continual working in obedience.
This doesn't say we shouldn't plan, set goals, have big dreams etc. The question is, whose goals, whose dreams and whose visions?
Habakkuk 2:2-4
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Behold, his soul [which] is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Do you know that some have reduced this great word to just making money?
See verse 1
Habakkuk 2:1
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
(Think about it!)
When God is not in the picture we derail and pride sets in. One thing is sure to begin to fade away, our love.
However when God has His place in our lives. We replace the worries and struggles with faith, for we have cast all our cares on Him. Then our love is strong and alive. Humility is then our nature, understanding that it is by the mercies of the Lord that we are not consumed.
Remember the age old trick of the serpent has always been "YOU DO NOT NEED GOD" selah!
You may not say it, nevertheless you may have put God out of your future. Selah
However we are better of, if we let Him take His place in our lives. As we pray, study His Word, listen to Him and worship.
We will not need to worry about tomorrow, the Ancient of Days has taken control.
Glory to God.
You are blessed.
Love
