THE HEART OF MAN
1Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for [the LORD seeth] not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
In all the dramas, yes, the acts we put out from day to day for whatever reason, we should not get carried away and think that the act moves God.
John 2:24&25
But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all [men],
And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
While the pomp and show went on, Jesus was more concerned about the heart.
Thus it was the heart God looked at when He said:
Jeremiah 17:9&10
The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the LORD search the heart, [I] try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings.
So our heart is the birth place of our ideas, principle, actions and words and that is why Jesus said:
Matthew 12:34b
for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
that is:
Luke 6:45
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Remember our salvation began with our heart, then our utterance and then concludes with our living/lifestyle.
Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Therefore we must guard our heart
Proverbs 4:23
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.
How do we do this?
By filling our mind with God's will, His ways and His word. Not merely memorizing scriptures (which is very good) but imprinting them on our heart, that we may be fruitful.
This was God's requirements for kingship.
1Kings 2:4
That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.
We also have peace:
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Brethren, many things seek space in our heart, we must only accept that which is of the Lord.
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.
A sick heart displays the fruit of the flesh and has no place in God's kingdom:
Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
However a healthy heart displays the fruit of the Spirit, of such is the kingdom of God:
Galatians 5:22&23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
We choose every day what we accept into our heart. WE MUST ALWAYS CHOOSE RIGHT. Thank God for His Spirit, He will always direct aright.
John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
I CONFESS THAT MY HEART IS THE LORD'S AND ONLY THAT WHICH PLEASES HIM WILL I ALLOW TO OCCUPY MY HEART.
Glory to God.
We are blessed.
