SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS 2 (The School analogy)
Ephesians 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
In every school, there has been set grades, that some will do well, some exceedingly well, some average and of course some would fail.
Now the school never purposed that those they admitted should fail, never, the intention is that all would pass as they say "with flying colours" however this lies on the student. Will they abide by what is made available by the school to excel, or will they set their own or a contrary course?
Let us look at the first man:
Genesis 1:27-28
So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
The environment was made right for them to be fruitful.
Genesis 1:31
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Even potential erring was made clear to man that he would not make a mistake.
Genesis 2:16-17
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
So just like every good college all had been made set that the student will excel and make it, if only they would abide by the school's rules.
Let us remember that just like a fully grown individual ripe for college, man was created with the power of God, the power to decide!
This was a blessing, an authority, it could also be a curse.
That is why Jesus cautioned:
John 15:4-5
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Just like Adam contributed nothing to his creation, we gave nothing to be saved, we had no contribution to our salvation it is God's gift to man, however we must decide to abide.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
The abiding is our job. Just like that student who must excel and finish well that they would not be a cast away.
Let us wake up to the spiritual blessings we have in Christ Jesus, pick up the plough again. The Lord has done so much for us, let us do our part.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We are blessed.
