HONOUR THE SABBATH (Isaiah 56)

Isaiah 56:2
Blessed [is] the man [that] doeth this, and the son of man [that] layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

I remember when I used to discuss bible doctrines with certain sects. I discovered that their seclusion from others were in keeping of days, including birthdays, sabbath days and even singing of national anthems among others.

In Isaiah 56, the revelation of the study included the strangers that would be joined to the fold:

Isaiah 56:3
Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I [am] a dry tree.

Isaiah 56:3-4
“Don’t let foreigners who commit themselves to the lord say, ‘The lord will never let me be part of his people.’ And don’t let the eunuchs say, ‘I’m a dried-up tree with no children and no future.’
For this is what the lord says: I will bless those eunuchs who keep my Sabbath days holy and who choose to do what pleases me and commit their lives to me.

I cannot boast that I have all the revelation concerning the sabbath, that is, the issue of Saturday and Sunday. However we must understand the mystery of the sabbath.

Matthew 12:8
For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

and:

Isaiah 1:12-14
When you come to worship me, who asked you to parade through my courts with all your ceremony?
Stop bringing me your meaningless gifts; the incense of your offerings disgusts me! As for your celebrations of the new moon and the Sabbath     and your special days for fasting— they are all sinful and false. I want no more of your pious meetings.
I hate your new moon celebrations and your annual festivals. They are a burden to me. I cannot stand them!

So what is the Sabbath? It is the day of rest.

Genesis 2:2-3
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Thus the Sabbath is revealed after the work is done. Thus we see the revelation of the sabbath when Christ finished the work:

John 17:4-5
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

John 19:30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

So who was the sabbath?

John 1:1-3
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God.
God created everything through him,     and nothing was created except through him.

Colossians 1:20
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, [I say], whether [they be] things in earth, or things in heaven.

So thus Jesus the Christ is the sabbath.

He is the rest so He can give us rest:

Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

So by the power of the Holy Spirit Paul explains:

Colossians 2:16-17
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ.

So it is all about Jesus the Christ.

So He says:

Matthew 11:27-30
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him].
Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.

As we worship with other believers let us remember whom it is all about. Jesus the Christ, all glory to Him is also  glory to the Father.

Halleluyah.

We are blessed.
