GREAT GOD WHO SAVED US (Isaiah 40)
Isaiah 40:5
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see [it] together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it].
Yes at the time of this revelation the prophesy was released for the punishment of Judah for all its evil. Surely the people hoped for salvation but God had gone beyond Israel and Judah, it was time for salvation of the whole world.
Isaiah 40:2
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
Yes salvation was of the Jews, they would be the channel by which the Messiah would be revealed.
Isaiah 40:3
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Matthew 2:4-6
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:
'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.' "
Up till the time Christ was born, his death and even His resurrection most of the Jews assumed that the coming king was coming to save Israel alone.
This was what Christ revealed to the Samaritan woman:
John 4:21&23
Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
They could not see God as who He was, the God of all. God of all gods. No visit to any site can save man, no physical activity can save man, it has to be a spiritual rebirth.
Isaiah 40:12, 15-18
Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
Behold, the nations [are] as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
And Lebanon [is] not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
All nations before him [are] as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
Wow what a great God!
Sometimes even we who have believed forget how GREAT our God is!
Isaiah 40:21-23
Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
[It is] he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof [are] as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
This is the God that saved us and adopted us as His sons. Awesome!

To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
It is great foolishness to compare God with Satan or any power that there is.
Isaiah 40:28
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, [that] the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? [there is] no searching of his understanding.
This is what He promised us that wait on Him.
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.
Thus He has revealed Himself to us through His Word, Jesus the Christ. Halleluyah. Let us declare this out to the world. We have a great God and He has saved us. Glory
