FUTILITY OF IDOL WORSHIP (Isaiah 41)
Isaiah 41:24
Behold, ye [are] of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination [is he that] chooseth you.
It is great foolishness to put trust in that which is created by human hands. The mundane act of worshiping graven images still exists today just as it did at the time of Isaiah's prophesy.
Isaiah 41:23
Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye [are] gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold [it] together.
God was there for Judah, all nations feared them because God was with them, why then would they seek to serve another, why whore after graven images?
Isaiah 41:13
For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Isaiah 41:11
Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
How foolish it is to seek after graven images.
Do we have any?
Exodus 20:4-6
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
That strong desire to have a symbol, a sign or a physical image has created graven images in the life of believers.
It is as simple as He said it "have no graven image"!
Romans 15:12
And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
John 4:24
God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
May we trust in nothing less.
We are blessed.
