THE RULERS, THE OPPRESSORS AND THE PEOPLE at the end. . . (Isaiah 13)
THE RULERS, THE OPPRESSORS AND THE PEOPLE at the end. . . (Isaiah 13)
Isaiah 13:1
The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
Babylon was one nation God used to deal with Israel and Judah. We can recall the story of Nebuchadnezzar and his conquest of Judah and Jerusalem. Even to the stripping clean of the temple's precious items.
However as he ravaged, he was also to be ravaged.
I commented on a post that tried to disprove that God had a hand in the leadership of the circular world. The pastor did not agree with my submissions, anyway Nebuchadnezzar confirmed it:
Daniel 4:17
'This decision is by the decree of the watchers, and the sentence by the word of the holy ones, in order that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, gives it to whomever He will, and sets over it the lowest of men.'
Daniel 4:25
They shall drive you from men, your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. They shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.
Daniel 4:32
And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses."
Nebuchadnezzar had to learn this the hard way.
People then ask, all the evil politicians and so called leaders ruling us today, are they established by God. Did God place them in the place of authority?
The answer is still in scriptures:
Romans 13:1
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
The position exists, anyway man still has a dominion. This dominion allows man to choose what he desires over what God desires, we see it in Israel, God ruled over them through judges, however it got to a time when they desired kings to rule over them like it was in nations around them:
1Samuel 8:4-8
Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah,
and said to him, "Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make for us a king to judge us like all the nations."
But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." So Samuel prayed to the LORD.
And the LORD said to Samuel, "Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
"According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day--with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods--so they are doing to you also.
He told them what to expect from a human king, the oppression and the slavery but they replied:
1 Samuel 8:20
that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."
Some would ask, did God not know that this would happen, of course He did, and He earlier warned them through Moses:
Deuteronomy 17:14
"When you come to the land which the LORD your God is giving you, and possess it and dwell in it, and say, 'I will set a king over me like all the nations that are around me,'
"you shall surely set a king over you whom the LORD your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.
Thus every leader would give account to God, because all authority belongs to God!
Romans 13:1-7
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.
For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you.
The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong.
So you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience.
Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do.
Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.
The truth is at the end, those who oppress will see the wrath of God. We don't talk much about it, it is so fierce that you cannot wish it for your enemy:
Isaiah 13:9-11
For see, the day of the lord is coming— the terrible day of his fury and fierce anger. The land will be made desolate, and all the sinners destroyed with it.
The heavens will be black above them; the stars will give no light. The sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will provide no light.
“I, the lord, will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their sin. I will crush the arrogance of the proud and humble the pride of the mighty.
No one should make the error of falling into this wrath, warn yourself, warn others, warn those you love also warn those you hate!
But we that fear and submit to God would not fear His wrath but would experience His love, a great consolation that will wipe away all we ever suffered or endured. Halleluyah.
Revelation 21:3 & 4
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
The best time to make peace with God is now. Glory to God!
