DON'T REBEL LIKE OF OLD (Isaiah 2)

Isaiah 2:6
Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and [are] soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

In Hebrews we as christians are warned not to rebel like the people of old. They did not take time to study and know the way of the Lord. Many of them perished in the wilderness, they just seemed to always take the wrong decisions doing those things that displeased God. Many have turned worship to seeking to know their way to prosper or get their heart desires just like soothsayers and magicians.

Hebrews 3:10
 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known my ways.

In Isaiah 2, the bible talked of some possessing wealth and these wealth led them to acquire idols. They allowed themselves to be polluted with the practices and ways of strangers thus rebelling against God.

Isaiah 2:7&8
Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither [is there any] end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither [is there any] end of their chariots:
 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

They allowed themselves to mix with the world to the extend that they chased after worldly pleasures, created idols and thus rejected the way of the Lord. (Do you have idols?)

2Timothy 3:16
All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

When we read this records, we as believers are called to caution that we do not make the same mistake.

Romans 11:21
 For if God spared not the natural branches, [take heed] lest he also spare not thee. (selah!)

We must take caution as civilization, knowledge and awareness continue to increase, rebellion against God, abominable acts, and falling outs continue to increase. We must watch pray and be conscious of the times. They had wealth and created idols, a very tempting situation.

How many idols have we created? What competes with our faith? What has eaten our love? What has taken God's place?

* in our church
* in our heart

Isaiah 2:19-21
 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made [each one] for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

We shall not be found wanting, the Lord will find us faithful. Not afraid of judgement but be welcomed into the embrace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you Lord.

Let us amend our ways. That which we do right, let us improve on. Pray and meditate in the Spirit.

We are blessed.
