COMING TOGETHER (The Pentecost experience.
Acts 2:1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
There have been questions about the release of God's power as His people gather again and again. Some sect even have the believe that the manifestation of God's power ended with the apostles. This is not correct!
Let us look at three aspects of the gathering on that day.
1. It was not seasonal, the brethren had a habit of coming together to pray. There was an instruction that they should wait.
Acts 1:14
These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
The gathering was continuous though the Messiah had ascended, yet they had to continue gathering.
This many fellowship still do.
2. The content of their gathering. They of course had a relationship with one another but they did not neglect the major ingredients of fellowship:
* study of scriptures
* prayers
* worship
Acts 1:15
And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
3. There is one major "miss" in our gatherings today "IN ONE ACCORD". They had one mind. Thus the Holy Spirit could be manifested.
Acts 2:1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
"In one accord", this the enemy fights against in the church, so that the power of God to loose the bonded and heal the stricken would not be manifested.
Ephesians 4:1-3
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We must all have one mind that we may manifest God's Spirit.
Not competition, seeking for positions, envying one another or hating. We must love and carry the divine purpose in our heart.
One thing about the disciples was that they continued.
Acts 2:46
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
How many who have opened places of worship actually received a divine mandate. There is a difference between the mandate to every believer to evangelism and that of leading/feeding the sheep. It is not an ordinary or carnal task!
John 21:17
He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
It is not something you are just inspired to do, it is a heavenly mandate, a special call from God, a picking from among the others. They were all together yet Jesus addressed Peter directly.
Many have opened churches without this mandate and thus the confusion continues.
There is a difference between building the church, releasing your home for fellowship and being called to pastor. Selah!
May God's power be released by His Spirit as we gather today. May we be in one accord. May it be about Him, that love may lead.
Glory to God!
You are blessed.
