BEAR GOOD FRUITS(Isaiah 5)
Isaiah 5:4
What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
In Isaiah 5, the Lord is seen given an illustration of a well prepared vineyard, nurtured and cared for by its owner, however when it was time for it to bear fruit it produced sour grapes.
What then will the vine owner do but to pull down its wall and destroy the vineyard.
Isaiah 5:5&6
And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; [and] break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
The vineyard in this text referred to Judah and Jerusalem:
Isaiah 5:7
For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts [is] the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
The chapter listed some woes according the evils they did at that time:
* they became drunkards:
Isaiah 5:11&22
Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, [that] they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, [till] wine inflame them!
Woe unto [them that are] mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
* they called evil good, and vice versa:
Isaiah 5:20
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
* wise in their own eyes
Isaiah 5:21
Woe unto [them that are] wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
* because of money/wealth they justify the wicked, and thus condemn the righteous :
Isaiah 5:23
Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
Destruction was the prophesy against them:
Isaiah 5:24
Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, [so] their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Do we see some of these woes in the lives of acclaimed believers today. Clergy, elders, laity alike called as children of God yet living a strange lifestyle. THEY DO NOT ABIDE IN CHRIST! They have formed a life style controlled by emotion (Isaiah 5... strong drink), love of money, ego, compromise!
See John 15
John 15:2.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
We as believers should not be that failed vineyard, but an example of the fruitful tree as prophesied by David:
Psalm 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
John 7:38&39
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
We are empowered by His Spirit to bear good fruit. That we must do! We will not err. If we have missed our way, we can return.
I see you fruitful.
We are blessed.
