UPON STONY PLACES

Matthew 13:5 & 6
Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

These Jesus interprets, are those who receive the word with joy yet they are not rooted thus after a while tribulation or persecution makes them backslide.

Matthew 13:20-21
[20]The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy.
[21]But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.

These category of people need to be tilled, constant teaching, grooming and mentorship that their stony heart be broken, then the seed of the word can bear fruit.

The noise, excitement and outburst of joy is not enough. For their rocky hearts must be broken by the word and Spirit that they may have deep roots.

Intercession cannot be ignored, the Holy Spirit will do what He came to do:

Colossians 2:6-7
And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.
Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

This is why it is dangerous to bring people to salvation based on material or earthly things. Promise of abundant wealth, and other fantasies. These are not the bases of salvation. That was not what Christ or the first disciples taught.

Our churches must not be filled with fair weather believers, but rooted Christians.

May we carry His truth in our hearts and thus lead many to this truth.

You are blessed.
