SEED AMONG THE THORN
Matthew 13:22
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
We have some who received the message of salvation "the good news" with enticements, that everything will be smooth and easy. When we preach we do not entice people, we appeal, encourage and teach the truth, then the Holy spirit convinces, the person submits to the word. Certainly the enemy would raise doubts in the hearts of the to be convert/believer but we continue to intercede, minister and encourage that soul.
Some have heard the word but were not prepared to face the persecution or initial temptations. Even Jesus when He began His journey faced temptation
Luke 4:2
Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
Jesus explained to us that there would be some who the thorns would choke!
Mathew 13:22.
He explained why:
Matthew 13:22
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
* the care of this world
* the deceitfulness of riches
Choke the word!
They then become unfruitful! selah
THUS A NEED TO WEED!
Take away the thorns, breed on a good farmland/environment.
Now when we look at this category we can observe that this ones may not leave the brethren hood. Yet they DID NOT BEAR FRUIT.
One question we need to ask is: HOW DOES A BELIEVER BEAR FRUIT?
Fruit is an outcome of works, that is a seed is sown, watered, nurtured(food and nutrients), including the right environment then harvested.
However two major things Jesus said would not allow this happen for people in this category.
* the care of this world
* the deceitfulness of riches
We must beware especially church ministers, elders and mature believers. What do we teach?
John 15:2
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
One major thing every new convert must learn is to:
John 15:4
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Not on a man, no matter how powerful, a pope, a bishop, general overseer minister, pastor or Rev he is, or on money, or on selfish ambitions, or competitions or activities or the other cares of this world BUT ON GOD revealed by His Son Jesus the Christ, the very image of the Father.
Colossians 1:15
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
First the believer must learn to abide in Christ Jesus.
Mark 8:34
And when he had called the people [unto him] with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mark 10:21
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Our mind must move from those things to Christ Jesus.
May no thorn be able to interfere with our relationship with Christ and may no thorn be able to choke the word of God from those who hear us. They would be nurtured on lands that bear good fruit.
You are blessed.
