PAST GLORY
1John 3:1a
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:
John 6:31
Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
The people of Israel held on to the testimony(ies) of their fathers, starting from Abraham to Moses (parting of the red sea, even to David and the exploits at his times, down to Elijah and Elisha.
Yes very well indeed God commanded that the people of Israel teach their children about this great deeds of God, that it will pass down from generation to generation.
Deuteronomy 4:9
Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
Same thing today we still hear believers talk of exploits in the past, children of "soldiers of faith", beneficiaries of this grace and others who their parents served as stewards at those times.
The question is, WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW?
Has God stopped working exploits with His people, are there no more "soldiers of faith".
Where is that great zeal backed with discipline, obedience and manifestation of God's power?
Has the world (instead of the "word") and its pleasures taken over.
Where is that "ambassadorship"?
Do we just dwell on the past exploits?
No, the same Love God expressed with our fathers He still shows to us today. The same way He worked through them, He works through us in a new dimension even to fulfil greater exploits.
We cannot just rest on the exploits of the past we must be ready to receive for today.
What have we exchanged God's glory for?
What else are we chasing after?
John 15:8
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
We must arise and fulfil the glory of God for our time.
Are you still in constant communion with God?
He called us sons.
