NEVER SATISFIED

1 Timothy 6:6
But godliness with contentment is great gain.

When some scriptures are read we are reminded that there is a context and there is a time, the times we are in now differ from what it was when the word came, thus it was expressed according to the prevailing time.

What do I mean?

This does not say that God's revealed or spoken word has changed or does not imply the same thing NO, God's word is Yea and Amen!

Let us look at an example:

Hebrews 13:2 (BBE)
Take care to keep open house: because in this way some have had angels as their guests, without being conscious of it.

Now this does not mean that you leave your house unlocked because you want to entertain strangers, no, in  this times, one coming across, even coming to ask lodging from you, ought to be investigated to ascertain that they do not come with ulterior motives.

Thus when we read:

1Timothy 6:8
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

We should understand that having raiment include having a place to lay one's head (a house ). Also if you must marry, fees, bills and other responsibilities must be met.

YOU ARE NOT WEALTHY WHEN YOUR MONEY/INCOME JUST TAKES CARE OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITY ...

You talk of when you have taken all of your responsibilities and have extremely excess.

1Timothy 6:9
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

That you have enough to take care of your family and meet your responsibilities is not "rich".

Remember:

1Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

All this said, and I believe they are clear enough. They that run after riches and wealth are then cautioned:

1 Timothy 6 : 10 - 11
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Glory to God, we will not serve mammon, we will serve God!

Luke 16:13
No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, we will not mix things up: we will not serve mammon but mammon will serve us.

God bless you.
