DO NOT BREAK THE WALLS 1
Genesis 1:7
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which [were] under the firmament from the waters which [were] above the firmament: and it was so.
From creation there has been barriers set between two phases. To separate one from the other.
Genesis 3:24
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
However when we talk of walls in this context, we do not mean physical walls to keep people away from our house, community, city or even country. We actually refer to barriers that have been put in place to enable us avoid mistakes, sin and not to fall into temptation.
Matthew 6:13b
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
These barriers could be between good and evil, i. e, between light and darkness. They could be actions we take, things and situations we avoid. It could also be actions of discipline. The purpose is to ensure that the darts, tricks and devices of the enemy, self and the world do not penetrate.
1John 2:15-17
Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
When the bible instructs in Romans 12:1-2:
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
It is not a switch turned on and off, it is a building which must be well rooted, built up and properly finished, though this later part takes a life time. selah!
Most of these walls take time to build, they thicken through our continuous practice and discipline. They actually form what we call maturity.
Hebrews 5:14(NLT)
Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.
Ephesians 6:13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
It is God's desire for all not to fall into temptation, however because of who He has made us to be, "gods", it is still up to us to decide if we want to stay holy with him or submit to the flesh.
Psalms 82:6
I have said, Ye [are] gods; and all of you [are] children of the most High.
2 Peter 2:9
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Revelations 3:10
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Let us look at some of these walls:
* THE WALL OF PRAYER
Luke 22:46
And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.
This is one of the greatest wall any believer could build. Actually all other walls rest on this.
Do you know Job had this wall, that was why he was not moved when his friends accused him of being self righteous:
Job 1:5(NLT)
When these celebrations ended—sometimes after several days—Job would purify his children. He would get up early in the morning and offer a burnt offering for each of them. For Job said to himself, “Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.
Other walls: faith, worded, discipline with opposite sex, discipline with money, daily routines, worship, positive thinking & speech,
The question now arises, "does this now take us back to the law?" No, we actually did not reject God's law, no we fulfil the law. The law brought us under bondage because we had not been empowered. Our empowerment came by our meeting with Christ and this by faith. Abraham had this experience:
Genesis 15:6
And Abram believed the lord, and the lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.
John 8:56
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw [it], and was glad.
I see believers who stand and are disciplined because the are disciples.
God bless you.
