DESIRING ACCOLADES
Romans 14:12 & 13
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in [his] brother's way.
It is a privilege to be called of God, to accept the salvation that God offered to us. Some would not enjoy this grace. Remember many would still continue to practice religions, many would still want to remain in sin and many would refuse to believe.
Titus 2:11
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
It is offered freely to all men but the architect is the Heavenly Father and thus it is Him who would bring any man.
John 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Thus, God is the one who draws man to Himself, however man could resist and that is why man can be condemned.
John 3:19 & 18
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Thus it would be terrible for the one who would cause another to fall. Many who are teachers have to be careful what they teach, ministers what they minister, elders examples they set and all leaders, how they lead.
Persecution is hard when it comes from the enemy but worse when it comes from ones household. We must be cautioned not to be a stumbling block to any that will walk in the way of the Lord.
As we go in our journey there is the great urge to "make it", to become great in the sight of men or the world. However we must remember whose accolade we should seek, not that of the world but that of God.
The crowd who sang hosanna to Jesus still joined to shout "crucify him". Thus Jesus never expected accolades from men.
John 5:34
But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.
As we go this year the Lord will search us out and make that which He purposed us to be. We will be worthy of His accolades.
Matthew 16:27
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
Revelations 22:12
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward [is] with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
