FIVE DAYS: DO YOU LOVE GOD

We count down five more days to finish the year, I hear our saviour asking "Do you love me?".

The bible talks about the evidence of our love of God:

1. We keep His commandments

1John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Joshua 22:5
But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

The love of God is actually His commandment. I remember my dad saying, why should someone teach another to love God? However he was born into a christian home and taught to pray and worship God from his youth. Others may not have had it so, some may have been born into different beliefs, some may even have been born into a family that believe more in science, philosophy and may even be athiest.

For such, they need to learn to love God, for although the longing of God is in their heart other things have been used as substitute. That is why the bible says:

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2. Our love of God extends to our love for others.

John 15:17
These things I command you, that ye love one another.

Mark 12:31
And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

This part of the commandment is where we most times confuse the issue and get it wrong. Take for instant when it comes to strangers:

Hebrew 13:2
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

How many can take in strangers with the multitude of evil we have in the land. That is where His Spirit helps us, to discern then we can decide and take action.

However in our everyday life, we are given opportunities to bless others. have we blessed our friends and people we know? How then can we graduate to blessing strangers?

Let us ask ourselves:

How many lives have we blessed this year? How many people have said "thank God for you" because of you?

These are the evidences of our loving others.

Is it that you have made others cry, or stolen from others? We are made to bring joy and not sorrow. We bless and do not curse.

Romans 12:14
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not

May we remember that if we love God, He would definitely know us and call us His own.

1Corinthians 8:3
But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

All created are not accepted by God, some would be rejected. Many still do not believe this yet it does not change its truth.

As we approach the new year I see our Love for God revealed afresh. We will know Him more as He reveals Himself more to us. Every of our actions will radiate God's love.

The celebrations continue.

God has blessed you.

Love
@ the watcher.
