THE FATAL URGE
James 1:14
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
I believe everyone has that one thing we would have done if we didn't see it as wrong. There are also those things that are generally an enticement to everyone.
What tragedy it is if ones enemy knows the weak point, that part that seems we do not have control over. It could be
* anger
* pride
* lies
* phobia
* money
* food
* partying
* sex
We should remember:
Titus 3:3 and 1Corinthians 6:11
For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
It is flesh, which we all have and which could very well desire to satisfy itself if we let it. But NO, we have mortified the flesh and its works, when we were born of the Spirit. We cannot fulfil its lust anymore.
Colossians 3:5
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry
Romans 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live
Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
When we became born again, we received power to be God's children, and that power, empower us to walk in the spirit.
Galatians 5:16
[This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh
This does not mean we come under the bondage of the law. No. If the law could save, we would not need salvation in the first place.
Galatians 5:18
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
So the "urge" would come if we give way to the flesh, giving it all it desires.
So scriptures says "walk in the spirit".
The spirit bears its fruit, that is, its character, while the flesh also bears its fruit.
Many mix up these basic teaching and get themselves robbed in shame after they seemed to have climbed up in ministry, career or in the society.
Temptation is like the urge of eaten stolen food, it seems sweet and unresistable initially but after it is eaten it is like gravel/sand in the mouth.
Proverbs 20:17
Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.
James 1:15
Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
Our salvation delivers us from being slaves to sin. Most times believers get it wrong is in ignorance.
May God's grace be revealed afresh on every heart and mind, that all that have believed and are saved would not be entangled in that which has been mortified.
That unlike Lot's wife we would not look back on that which is dead, but hold on to life which we have in Yeshua, Jesus the Christ.
We would not err!
The gate of hell shall not prevail against the church!
God bless you.
