WHO MADE YOU A JUDGE?

Romans 2:1
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Many rush to take the seat of the judge over matters they either have no idea about or have no moral standing to judge.

Take for instance the Scribes and Pharisees:

John 8:7, 9, 10-11
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And they which heard [it], being convicted by [their own] conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

They would have been so pissed off. "How can this man take away our power to judge!"

There is nothing like being set free from the bondage of the law. If only we understand the full impact of what Christ did for us!

Luke 4:18-19
The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

So:

It takes a man free from sin to judge another!

Romans 2:1
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Is it that we think that because we expose other people's wrongs that we will not be judged or punished for ours?

Romans 2:3
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

It is even terrible for those who judge, for they show that they know those things are wrong, yet they continue to do them.

Jesus expressed clearly here:

Matthew 7:1-5(NLT)
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.
For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.
“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?
Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

Who are we then to judge?

OURSELVES!

The outward shows, are not what God is interested in but the inward truth. For it is from this inward circumcision that we show forth the works of righteousness in our outward actions.

Romans 2:28-29(NLT)
For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision.
No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.

All these said, we should not confuse judgment with counsel and correction!

We should not misplace the role of elders and fathers. Selah

We could resist so much that we may not know when we actually resist God. Selah!

I see us renewed, I see us judging ourselves, I see our lifestyles being the judge for those who are getting it wrong.

1 Peter 2:9
But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Glory to God!

We will not be found wanting.

He calls us blessed.

Love
